Belle de Jour (1967). Much more effective is what is implied

There are many reasons to call this movie iconic.

Catherine Deneuve’s performance reflects the cool, polite ways of a traditional Parisian bourgeois, while dealing with many issues related to women’s freedom in the 1960s.
But Luis Buñuel added some touches of dreaminess and surrealism that made this movie very personal.

Belle de Jour (1967)

His surreal touch in Belle de Jour enhances Joseph Kessel‘s original novel.
The movie offers a new perspective on Séverine, and the resulting comedy works decidedly wonderfully.

It is not overly explicit, being rather gentle by today’s standards.
But what is implied is definitely much more effective.
