December 12, 2024 Reflections of a heretic
Neither better nor worse, but definitely different.
Present and past. Definitely changed
Yesterday I reread some old posts I made in the now distant past.
It was like going back in time and rediscovering a very different Veronica : much more naive, less disillusioned, less serious, more prone to pranks.
Nowadays I have become much tougher in character, I admit.
I am no longer carefree or frivolous.
It is certainly a regression of my character, although with time I have learned to use the best weapon in my possession : irony.
Today’s Veronica is neither better nor worse, but certainly different.
Arguments, bullying, slander, hypocrisy, expressions of envy.
These are the most common aspects of relationships between people, whether real or virtual, and the word “tolerance” is now meaningless to humanity.
But what really matters is the empathy we have within us and how we put it into practice in our daily lives.
The empathy that makes the people we love happy in real, everyday life.
Instead, we are too often preoccupied with satisfying our egos, which inevitably takes over in the long run.
