October 7, 2024 Cat lovers
It shows moments of humanity and love.
Silent heroes. Trying to dream despite everything
Since October 7, 2023, the situation of the Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip and the surrounding areas has only worsened.
In this horror of war, which is reflected in everyone’s eyes, there are those who have never stopped helping others.
It is not only the neighbor, the tent neighbor, the stretcher neighbor, but also an abandoned animal looking for some garbage to eat.
Hundreds of hungry cats roam the bombed-out streets of Gaza, and some people feed them as best they can, sharing whatever they have.
A video straight from Palestine manages to warm the heart, even though it is covered with a huge layer of sadness.
It shows moments of humanity and love for some of the most fragile and helpless creatures in a devastated land.
They jump out of the rubble, surround people and meow with all the voice they have in their tiny bodies.
They are red cats, short and long haired, and each in its own way, jumping or staring straight into people’s eyes, trying to get their attention.
In this horror, they seem to be trying to say, “Don’t forget us”.
Unfortunately, there is no food for everyone, just as there is no food for the population, but what little they can gather is shared as much as possible.
One of the quiet heroes doing his best for the animals is Ahmad Shahwan.
He works with Sulala Animal Rescue, the only animal shelter in Gaza.
Before the war broke out, Ahmad rescued sick dogs and cats and brought them to the center for treatment.
Now, with some friends, he feeds them near Nasser Hospital.

The shelter assured that they will try to get in touch with him to give him canned food and kibble.
One tries to dream despite everything, to think that sooner or later the sun will shine again and more help will come, for everyone, including the pets.
