The mousetrap. We are all involved in this journey called life

A mouse looked into the crack in the wall and saw the farmer and his wife opening a package.

“What food could this package contain?”

The mouse discovered that the package contained a mousetrap and was devastated.
Returning to the farm, the mouse wanted to warn all the animals :

“There is a mousetrap in the house ! There is a mousetrap in the house !”

The chicken began to cluck and rasp on the ground and said :

“Mr. Mouse, I can understand that this is a serious matter for you, but it does not concern me.
I don’t care much about it”.

The mouse turned to the pig and said :

“There’s a mousetrap in the house !”

The pig was sympathetic but said :

“I am very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do but pray.
You may be sure that you will be kept in my prayers”.

The mouse returned to the cow.
The cow said :

“Gosh, Mr. Mouse.
I feel sorry for you, but I have a hard time getting my nose in the trap.
That’s your problem”.

Mousetrap

So the mouse returned to the house, head down and sad, to face the trap alone.

That same night, a sound was heard in the house, like the sound of a trap snapping at its prey.
The farmer’s wife ran out to see what she had caught.

In the darkness, she saw that it was a poisonous snake with its tail still in the trap.
The snake bit the woman.
The farmer took her to the hospital and when he brought her home she had a fever.

Everyone knows that when you have a fever, it is very good to take chicken broth.
So the farmer took his axe to the farm to prepare the main ingredient for the broth.

But his wife kept getting sick, so friends and neighbors came to stay with her at all hours of the day and night.
To feed them, the farmer killed the pig.

The farmer’s wife did not get better, and one day she died.
So many people came to the funeral that the farmer had to slaughter the cow in order to provide enough meat for everyone in attendance.

Moral

The next time you listen to someone who has a problem and think it doesn’t affect you, remember that if even one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

Each of us is a vital thread in someone else’s tapestry.
Our lives are intertwined.
