February 3, 2025 Reflections of a heretic
The human being is really able to “adapt” to any situation.
The weight of the world on your shoulders

Slavery has been abolished for at least a century.
In the past, slaves could be killed, chained, or tortured.
In short, coerced.
With the abolition of slavery came serfs.
But the substance did not change.
You could still force someone to be a serf.
Then with the industrial age came necessity.
Because of hunger, someone could force people to work as slaves.
Then, finally, came union gains.
Today, however, you condition and convince people to be slaves.
Just repeat obsessively that there is no hope and no alternative.
And slowly everyone will be convinced that more sacrifices must be made.
A Basic Concept
I have previously used the phrase “carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders” to refer to all those who claim to sacrifice themselves for a “higher” ideal.
People who go so far as to give up everything, including their dignity, in the name of some “higher” principle.
In my opinion, the first thing to do is to take a step back.
A basic concept must be established :
“If something is legal, you can always do it.
The important thing is to always obey the law”.
However, the world is full of laws that are sometimes unnecessary, if not harmful.
At the same time, the following concept is constantly repeated:
“There is a higher reason why you should not do something you like (or want) to do”.
Moralism, civicism, voluntarism.
In short, we are always told, more or less, that if there is something we like to do that does not concern the “common” good, we should not do it.
Because if everyone did not think about the common good, the country – and therefore the world – would sink inexorably.
But I never hear anyone raise a fundamental objection:
“When will the time come when we can finally do something for ourselves that will benefit us personally ?”
In fact, the words “ourselves“, “personally“, and “for our benefit” seem to have disappeared from the common vocabulary.
In their place have come such disgustingly false terms as “fair trade“, “equal opportunity“, “pink quotas“, and “gender equality“, which aim to turn the entire population into mediocre peons without any art or role.
As if thinking of one’s personal growth at the expense of collective growth has become a mortal sin.
Of course, at some point the following question came to mind :
“What am I doing for myself ?
And more importantly, what is the collective doing for me ?“
The answer was consistent :
“Nothing, on the contrary, it tries in every way to impoverish me and make my life more and more difficult”.

Usually at this point I hear myself objecting that I am at the very least being irresponsible.
In fact, however.
I have always had the utmost respect for all existing and applicable laws.
Perhaps even too much.
But the point is different.
The big systemic problems do not concern me except to a small degree.
In any case, the only possible solution is to adapt to change.
I know that, I know that.
And in this way they always answer me that the economy will not restart.
There is no way out of the crisis.
The world is sinking.
And irresponsible people like me are to blame.
It’s the weight of the world.
The whole weight of the world.
But it’s not just us who have to carry it.
At least it’s not just up to me.
There are martyrs for that.
