Traveling in Panama. Some important tips

As in all Central American countries, local buses are the cheapest form of transportation in Panama.
Destinations such as Colón, Panama City, and David are also served by larger, more comfortable express buses.

Outside of the most populated areas, paved roads may be uncommon.
In such cases (for example, if you are adventuring to Bocas del Toro), I recommend booking a flight on a small plane.

For travel to Costa Rica in the northwest, you can book a plane from Panama City or an air-conditioned Ticabus.

Keep in mind that Panama uses the US dollar, so it is one of the most expensive countries in Central America to visit.
You can still find rooms for $12-$15 per person.

However, you can cut costs by eating at cafes, shopping at markets, and using public transportation.
If you are willing to splurge, you will find an extraordinary selection of luxury resorts, especially on the islands.

In large cities such as Panama City and Colon, you should be extremely careful at night.
Keep your passport with you at all times.

Wear a belt under your clothes and keep important documents and cash in it.

In the densely forested southeastern region of Darien (which borders Colombia), guerrillas and drug traffickers remain a real threat.
This is the most pristine area of dense rainforest in the world.

Yes, it is a beautiful, but very dangerous place.
If you do decide to go there, I recommend that you find an experienced guide.
